I have too often dashed through my life like an autonoman, distracted from what is natural and arresting. Art has been my antidote against colorless routine. With this understanding, I paint to ask the viewer to pause and engage with the subject. I request that the viewer regard a familiar subject with fresh eyes. Simplistic and inspired by nature, my paintings are created with acrylic paint, inks and pens.
Dana’s journey as an artist is deeply intertwined with her life experience,; her love of nature, and her commitment to her community. Living in the Memphis area for two decades has allowed her to draw inspiration from the rich culture and history surrounding her. As a nurse, she possesses a unique perspective on empathy and healing, which often translates into her artwork.
Her roles as a wife and mother to two boys provide her with a wellspring of emotions and stories that inform her creative process. Each piece she creates is not only a reflection of her artistic growth but also a narrative of her life and the lives of those around her.
Dana’s involvement with local non-profits highlights her dedication to giving back. By donating her artwork to causes such as the Memphis Child Advocacy Center's Works of Heart annual art auction, she actively contributes to important initiatives that support vulnerable children. This commitment demonstrates her belief in the power of art to foster change and bring awareness to critical social issues.
Working with various mediums, including oil, acrylic, and mixed media, Dana experiments with texture and color to convey her messages. Her versatility as an artist allows her to explore different themes and techniques, making each piece a unique expression of her creativity and compassion. Through her art, Dana not only enriches her own life but also touches the lives of others in meaningful ways.
